DAY 03

Comment

Think of pressing one of the faces down onto a table top; magine folding the other faces around it.
When the box has been made, which face does not have a face opposite it?

Answer

A.

Readers' methods

Hannah T, International School, Toulouse:
The base of the box is A. Imagine lifting B up to make a side. Lift E up to make a side, wrap D round to meet the side of A and then wrap C round to meet the side of B and A.

Lucy S, Belvedere DA17:
A has got to be the base of the box as all the others fold up around it.

Louise W, Solihull B92:
Looking at the net of a box without a lid, I imagined folding along the edges and folding in the sides.
I think everyone's first response would be to choose the central square out of the 5.... but then you realise that the 'open' end would be facing you (in 3D form).
Clearly the answer was 'A'.

Amie G, Peacehaven BN10:
The base of the boxs is A.
I made the box and then I made the open-aired box.

Rachel H, Peacehaven BN10:
A, because you can lift B towards A, then E towards A and then twist D and C round.
