Method A

In this movie we trace the perpendicular bisector of AB. We then trace just a small section of the desired locus of P (ie when AP = 1.2 x BP). [For the sake of simplicity, we assume A and B are 2 units apart.]

It is worth PAUSING the movie before the trace of P appears:
- what will the locus look like (eg, straight or curved)?
- on what side of the perpendicular bisector will it lie?
- will it cross or touch the bisector?

At the END of the movie, it is worth asking
- can we make P go as 'high' as we like?
- can we make P go as far to the 'right' as we like?
- why NOT?!

On the next page we reveal more of the locus.
